3 dairy products per day
Dairy products comprise almost all products containing milk such as yoghurt, cheese ... etc..
They are important for their calcium intake, protein and also vitamin D.
Calcium is involved among others in the formation and maintenance of bones and teeth. It will also play a role in blood coagulation and maintaining blood pressure.
During the meal try to vary the sources of calcium, alternating a glass of milk in the morning, a yogurt with a piece of cheese at noon and cheese evening. Note that the goat cheese and fresh cheeses have less fat!
Namely:
- Some products containing milk are not considered dairy. Examples: Butter and cream are fresh products low in calcium and high in fat.
- Some desserts like custards or creams are not considered either as dairy products.
- The hard cheeses are high in calcium but also fat.
- During childhood and adolescence, it is advisable to take 4 milk products per day.
